World of Beer has withdrawn its application for a liquor license

according to an e-mail I just got from Ward 6 Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz. So there is no need to attend tonight's Licensing Commission hearing unless you want to support or oppose one of the other applicants (such as Aguacate Verde).

I think neither -- they just want a liquor license where they are now.

Well, I'm sure Alderman Gewirtz will oppose it, as we don't need another drinking hole in the square, and we already have places that serve alcohol.

This is in Wilson Square, not Davis Square, and is an already existing local restaurant. They were called Tacos Lupita until a year or so ago.

This I don't know, sorry. There is still a Tacos Lupita in Lynn, which I enjoyed when I stumbled across it last year.

I know, that's where I first discovered them years ago (when I used to work up that way) and I was so excited to see the one down here. I think they were owned by a pair of sisters, and maybe the separated the business? I remember hearing that a while ago, but can't recall for sure.

I haven't found a web site for them, but here's a Yelp page for Tacos Lupita in Lynn. Looks like they have at least two other locations, in Lawrence and Haverhill, neither of which I know of until 5 minutes ago.

The food got worse when they switched over to the new place, but the menu mostly stayed the same. I think this happened over 2 years ago. I was disappointed after 2 tries and never went back. I used to love Tacos Lupita. Even the red sauce wasn't the same.

yeah, i remember going by a few years (?) ago and ordering one from the somerville location, and thinking it didn't taste the same anymore. I was hoping it was a one time fluke, but seems more likely a change of menu/recipes. bummer.

Similar menu items, but not the same recipes/flavors at all. Not the same bread for the tortas. Not the same al pastor for the tortas. Other things with avocados and vegetables that are new.
