It's time ... to Stop & Shop! (starting tomorrow)

The brand-new Stop & Shop at Broadway and Route 16 (formerly Johnnie's Foodmaster) has its grand opening tomorrow at 10 am.
According to an announcement from Stop & Shop, the store will be celebrating its opening all weekend with prize giveaways and children's activities.

Friday through Sunday, customers who buy Stop & Shop- and Nature's Promise-brand food could win a $10 gift card, the announcement says. It says the store will be giving out $1,000 worth of cards.

Also over the weekend, Sally the Clown will be on hand to make balloon animals and conduct puppet shows for kids. Sally will be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., the announcement says.

Uh oh!!! It was a link to "Roadrunner" by Modern Lovers. Weird--I watched it just after I posted it.

The sign out front says 8:00 am, not 10.

I was hoping for a Trader Joe's, but I am still really happy to have a decent supermarket close by with meat and fish departments that don't make me want to gag. :D

Holy crap, is it ever small. I never realized how small Foodmaster was, but I'm used to the big Stop and Shops in Arlington Center and off Broadway in Somerville, and this one is TINY compared to those.

They do have almost all the things I missed about Foodmaster, except for some reason their eggs were all cracked. Maybe an overexcited new stockperson. And their prices are definitely higher. But I can live with that because I missed having a grocery store!

Yeah, and this one is small compared to the Arlington one. I also grew up with a Super Stop & Shop so it's extra weird to me.
