McKinnon's Meat Market files for bankruptcy

from Boston Restaurant Talk: "McKinnon's Meat Market in Davis Square is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, though no other information has been given at this point in time. "

(Note that filing for bankruptcy does not necessarily mean the store is closing.)

I am so sad to hear this. I hope they can restructure and turn it around. I always wondered how their prices could be so much lower than other grocery stores. I guess they can't. I wonder if they have a long term lease about to expire.

Specifically, Chapter 11 is the type of bankruptcy that allows the store to continue operating while they restructure debt and/or work out deals with creditors. Chapter 7 is "close the store and sell off everything".
