I am so sad to hear this. I hope they can restructure and turn it around. I always wondered how their prices could be so much lower than other grocery stores. I guess they can't. I wonder if they have a long term lease about to expire.

Specifically, Chapter 11 is the type of bankruptcy that allows the store to continue operating while they restructure debt and/or work out deals with creditors. Chapter 7 is "close the store and sell off everything".

"[November 27 update: According to a bankruptcy court filing seen today, McKinnon's Meat Market has indeed filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and has until December 7 to file their statement of financial affairs and the schedules of exactly what they owe.]"
