Subway on Elm Street?

Anyone know the story about the closed Subway on Elm Street? I was under the impression it was being renovated, but I just noticed the stop work order on the door.

I don't know any news since our January 21 post about it. It's still listed as Opening Soon on their website.

Sure seems to be taking a long time. When Chipotle had their flood, they reopened within two weeks.

On a few occasions in the past couple of months, I've seen someone in there sitting in the front window, filling out stacks of forms and using a calculator. That's the only activity that's gone on there, sadly.

I remain amazed that it has lasted as long as it has, given its product and being 100% dependent on walk-in business (unless they have some catering backend).

Quite honestly, if one is looking for lunch under $5 or so in the square, it was one of the only options left.

There was almost always a line when I stopped by.

It now has a FOR RENT sign, which also says SUBWAY FRANCHISE AVAILABLE. However it is not listed on the chain's Restaurants For Sale map.
