Where to buy used records?

I am looking to buy a few used Beatles or Bob Dylan records (yes, the old vinyl kind) Are there any used record stores left in the area? Or does anyone have a few they would like to sell me? I can only afford to pay a few dollars per record. They are going to be a Xmas gift for my music-obsessed 16 yr old niece.

The closest I know of is Twisted Village in Harvard Sq. But my absolute favorite in the state is Mystery Train in Gloucester.

I wonder if CD Spins in Davis Sq. has them?

The one right off the T in Central is GREAT. It's called "Used Records" or "Record Store" ... or something to that effect. The most I've ever paid there is $8/record - for the Joshua Tree.

If they don't have it, you can put in a request and they will try to find it. They're good like that.

i think it's called "cheapo records"?

Cheapo Records in Central Square
Second Coming between Central and Harvard
Planet Records on JFK Street in Harvard Square
Twisted Village in Harvard Square (more weird than mainstream here, but vinyl)

(last I checked these all had vinyl, I'm sure someone will correct me if it's not the case anymore)

In Your Ear at 957 Comm Ave right next to The Paradise Rock Club. The Green Line B Train goes there. They have an enormous selection of used records.

I actually have an old "singalong" Beatles record from 1964. I guess it's kind of a pre-cursor to karaoke - instrumental versions of Beatles songs with lyrics and guitar chords and tabs printed on the sleeve.

Anyway, I have no use for it anymore because I don't have a record player, so I'd be happy to give it to you if you want to throw it in with some of the other real albums you get, just as a novelty.

does Skippy White's still sell vinyl?

that's what I was going to recommend. I haven't been there in ages, but last time I went it still had vinyl, and a friend of mine who DJs swears by that place. I also love In Your Ear - I used to go to the one on Thayer Street in Providence every week.

For super-cheap, you can also go to the basement of the Goodwill store.

You need patience for this, however, as the records are numerous and the organization is non-existent.
