A sound of thunder
It's about 5:15pm and I'm in Porter Square. There was what just sounded like two cracks of thunder (about five minutes apart) -- out of a clear blue sky.
Did anybody actually in Davis Square at the moment also hear these?
Update: Found the storm. It's directly over the building I'm in and the back parking lot. Out the front windows, it's beautiful and sunny. Out the back, it looks like incipient Armageddon. It's like we have our very own thundercloud teathered to the roof.

That's a different sort of weird, though - it wasn't that we were all having different weather in different parts of the city at the same time, it was that we were all having the same very strange weather.

Free Thursday Movies in the Rain
Thanks to those who came out anyway and huddled under the tiki umbrellas to watch the movie. Aside from the rain and the electrical storm, the temperature was good and we'll do it again next week (minus the rain and electrical storm I hope).
Next week's movie: Metropolis (original silent movie version).

I recall that a few years ago, lightning hit the apartment building at the northeast corner of Orchard and Day.
