Mr. Crepe now sells ice cream

Specifically, Richardson's Ice Cream from Middleton, Mass. Haven't tried it yet. If you have, how was it?

Lots of local ice cream stands sell Richardsons ice cream, and it is an excellent brand.

You're asking this on a day when it is 95 degrees and as far as I can tell someone is pouring cauldrons of boiling sweat from the parapets in Davis because why else would I feel this nasty?

I am sure if you try it today it will be spectacular.

I found the quality a little lower than JP licks, but the price was proportionately lower (than JPL's usurious rates) as well. Plus, they gave us free whipped cream. They don't sell sundaes, which is insane 'cause they have all the toppings there already for the crepes. But *because* they don't see sundaes--free whipped cream when I asked.

Nothing spectacular. Wouldn't keep me from crossing the street to JP Licks.

I actually really liked Richardson's and I find it comparable to JP LIcks in taste.

I'm with you - only I like Richardson's better. I don't get the obsession some people have with JP Licks.

This ice cream will give me a reason to go back there, because after careful consideration and several tries, I've decided I don't like their crepes. I want the thin, translucent, membranous kind.

i haven't tried it at mr crepe, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE richardson's (which i've gotten both direct at the dairy and by the half-gallon on my way home from north reading at ryer's store). my favorite flavor is the "rocky road", which contains actual marshmallows, not some wimpy swirl.

I love Richardson's ice cream! As North Shore residents, I can always depend on my parents to have containers of Mocha Chip and Chocolate Chip in the freezer --they are addicts--definite incentive to make a trip home. I am very happy to have it just down the street now.

I used to work at an ice cream stand that sold Richardson's.

The best kind is Moose Tracks. If they sell it at Mr. Crepe, try it.

It's good to know there's an alternative to JP Licks' line o' doom.

Richardson's is good stuff.. reminds me of my college days in the merrimack valley

I used to work at Richardson's in Middleton when I was in high school. Their ice cream is a big hit for the North Shore, and I think it's really good. My favorite flavors are the Mocha Chip and Tollhouse. Not sure if Mr. Crepe has these flavors yet.

I also really like Richardson's ice cream (I used to work on the North Shore).

A little out of the way, but the Capital Theatre has a sign out that says they serve Richardson's ice cream now as well.

I say thank goodness for the competition! The prices at JP Licks are enough to keep you skinny, and the lines can be nutty. Plus, I used to work with one of the Richardson boys, and they're good folks.

You go, Ron! I foresee the hot summer's day version of a bar crawl--begin at Emack's in Porter (whose first location was about where Boca Grande is on Mass. Ave, right Ron?), get some Herrell's at Boloco, and then hit JP Licks and Mr. Crepe, followed by a matinee at the Somerville theater to ride out the insulin coma.

Mr Crepe should offer ice cream dessert crepes if they don't already. we make these at home- vanilla ice cream and berries in a crepe covered in raspberry sauce. yummy!

Best Idea Ever

That's really the best and smartest idea I've ever heard on this LiveJournal. Oh god, dessert crepes. . . maybe with bananas, vanilla ice cream, and hot fudge.
