Karaoke?

Do any of the bars around here have a karaoke night? If not, going further out into Cambridge/Boston, is there anywhere in particular you might recommend?

I'm sure there are several, but the only one I know of off the top of my head is at the Asgard (Central Square) every Wednesday starting at 9.

They used to have it at the Burren, but that was several years ago and my hunch is that is gone. I think the closest you are going to get is the Asgard on Wednesday nights (central square).

Of course, there is always Rock Band at Orleans in which you can sing and its sort of karaoke-ish ;)

the powderhouse pub in ball square has it on thurdays I believe. Tommy Doyle's in Harvard has it wednesdays after trivia.

Powderhouse is undergoing renovations right now though and they're closed. They just changed ownership and they seem to be giving the place a bit of a polish.

But now I know where Tommy Doyle's is...it just kind of appeared on my new DiningIn menu.

Tommy Doyle's used to be House of Blues.

that's cool; I never go there unless I absolutely need to get out of the house and want a drink; its such a pit and not even a decent dive bar. it's be nice to have a good bar right around the block.

of course; its the other way around the block from where I always walk; so I don't notice things like renovations....

I second the Tommy Doyle's in Harvard Sq. Karaoke there is every Wednesday from 10-1 (after Trivia). I'm there every week (at least while I'm in town).

As for the powderhouse, they had Karaoke from 10-1 on Tuesday and Thursday, but I have no idea if they will continue that when they reopen. I used to go every Tuesday. On Thursday's they had a Karaoke Contest which wasn't quite my cup of tea.

If you're looking for an earlier Karaoke, Tommy Doyle's in Kendall Sq (next to CBC) has Karaoke at 8pm. I go there sometimes when I'm free earlier in the day.

For a different quality of karaoke there's also the Courtside on Cambridge Street in Cambridge. I wouldn't recommend them, but I don't know anything else on Friday.

I walk by there every day on the way to and from the bus. I kind of miss their cheeseburgers though, so I kind of wish they'd open again.

And a-ha on Tommy Doyle's. I visit Harvard Sq rarely now so I had no idea what House of Blues became.

Razzy's (down the block from Porter) has karaoke on weekends.

Asgard (in Central Square) has the best karaoke night in Boston on Wednesdays.

An Tua Nua does karaoke on Wednesdays, I believe.

The Courtside near Lechmere has it on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (I haven't been in a while, though)

The Courtside is generally regarded as the prime karaoke spot in town. If you can actually carry a tune, that's your bar.

The best place for Karaoke is definitely Limelight, near Boston Common.

I second (third? fourth?) the recommendation of the Asgard on Wednesday nights. I've never been to Razzy's, but I've heard good things. I went to the Limelight once, and it was awful. The backing vocals on the karaoke tracks were so loud the singers couldn't be heard. And I've heard good things about Courtside, but you have to get there really early, or you won't get a chance to sing. It gets packed fast.

charlie's kitchen in harvard sq on tuesday nights (pretty sure it's that day)
