East Somerville Main Streets has cancelled tonight's outdoor showing of Paheli due to rain. It was already postponed once due to rain on September 12, so it's just not going to happen. I wish them better luck next year.

Union Square Main Streets and the Somerville Arts Council have postponed What the Fluff? until Sunday, still 4 to 7 pm.

From USMS's web site: "Rain or shine the event will take place on Sunday. We'll have some stuff taking place on the plaza under tents and the games and music will be in various locations around the Square. Those inside spots of activity with be marked with white balloons and maps will be available too. Heck, this is gonna make the festival even more fun!"

Groundwork Somerville's Local Roots Music and Food Festival will take place as scheduled Saturday, 5-10 pm, at the Community Growing Center, 22 Vinal Avenue. They say: "We have purchased a LARGE tent to cover the space, so we will have rain, but we won't be wet! "

A local woman, friend, and grandmother of two has asked me if I know of anyone willing to adopt her two cats. She is moving into a living situation that will not allow her to keep pets, and she is very distraught at the loss of these two well-loved felines.

The two cats are sisters from the same litter, 5years old, domestic short hair, and extremely friendly. They love to be handled, and one in particular is very good with young children (the other just ignores them). She is okay with the rough handling that comes from children. The cats have been spayed. I am trying to get a picture from her, but she is not a big Internet User.

I would like to help her find these two cats new homes, or at least provide her with information on where she can take these cats. This is very upsetting, and I would love to take them myself if I could (I'm sadly allergic and my apartment does not allow cats)

I know there are lots of cat lovers in Davis. Please advise.

Heyyy

So, this will be my first ever 5k (or organized run, for that matter). Sure, I'm getting a bit nervous and training every day, but I think it should go fine, and will probably be a ton of fun.

I got an e-mail today saying the route has changed. It's posted here: new course.

I'm pretty new to the area. Does anyone have an idea how this race should be for a complete n00b? Are there any killer hills or craziness? What is the atmosphere like? I've heard that in most road races, I should expect to be running huddled in with a massive crowd, for the first bit.

I'm really excited, just a tad nervous as it is my first time!

Anyone have an idea of where one could go to watch the debate tonight? Immediate Davis Sq. location preferred.

Do any of the bars around here have a karaoke night? If not, going further out into Cambridge/Boston, is there anywhere in particular you might recommend?
