A local woman, friend, and grandmother of two has asked me if I know of anyone willing to adopt her two cats. She is moving into a living situation that will not allow her to keep pets, and she is very distraught at the loss of these two well-loved felines.

The two cats are sisters from the same litter, 5years old, domestic short hair, and extremely friendly. They love to be handled, and one in particular is very good with young children (the other just ignores them). She is okay with the rough handling that comes from children. The cats have been spayed. I am trying to get a picture from her, but she is not a big Internet User.

I would like to help her find these two cats new homes, or at least provide her with information on where she can take these cats. This is very upsetting, and I would love to take them myself if I could (I'm sadly allergic and my apartment does not allow cats)

I know there are lots of cat lovers in Davis. Please advise.

Try Saint Meows. This outfit primarily rescues kitties in dire need (abandoned, abused, etc.), but will take others if they have room (for a fee that helps support the effort). They're a no-kill shelter with a good record of placement and the kitties waiting for new homes are treated with love and kindness. A year ago I rescued an abandoned cat from the freezing cold and SM found the lil guy a home just like that.

Don't forget the Charles River Alleycats. (They merged with the Advocats a while ago, so the two names show up interchangably some places.) I've worked with them extensively and they are top notch, no kill, TNR, foster parent shelter. http://www.charlesriveralleycats.org/ 617-244-0200

The Alliance for Animals is also great - 617.268.7800, but i haven't had contact with them in several years.

Ellen Gifford Shelter Home (617.787.8872) takes the cats that are too special needs for Charles River. They also have a bit of a waiting list.

Good luck!
