Spün

I went to Spün last night around 7:45 and it was closed. Does anyone know why? Has it closed permanently?

It was weird because there were no signs saying why and it's normally open every day noon to 11pm.

EDIT 2:34 I just drove by and the curtains were still down, though I couldn't tell if the closed sign was still up.

Yeah, YoTango was just not the same. I wanted my Spün fix. :(

I've gone by it in the afternoon on weekdays three times and it was closed each time. Once there was a wierd note in the window about "we have your order - call X" where X was a phone number.

Looks like someone forgot to pay their umlaut tax.

Too bad. I wanted some frözen yögürt.

Frözen yögürt? Oogh. I just ran the tax numbers on that. Not pretty. I'm talking paycheck-garnishing not pretty.

Thursday I hear a sign on the door said they'd closed at 5. Last night, no sign. It is a mystery.

We were there Monday night about 5:30 pm and they were open and serving pumpkin spice frozen yogurt...yum. Alex said they're working on their schedule. So I'd say keep checking...

Ooh, maybe I should try to go while my laundry is in this afternoon! :-}

Meh. Berryline is better. Plus I went into Spün when it first opened and told them how excited I was that they were opening near my apartment and I love froyo, and they didn't seem to care one bit. I figured I'll take my business where it's wanted.

Businesses that don't keep consistent and posted hours aren't going to be businesses very long.

Except for that guy who runs the antique/junk shop (maybe it's a front BUT I DIDN'T SAY THAT) out of the painted greenhouse on Mass Ave. Yeah, I know antique dealers can keep appointment-only if they so choose, but the handwritten note used to say something like "Open when I feel like it."

That's a plum piece of real estate that the junk shop is on, too. I wonder how long he can keep doing that.

He owns the building and doesn't want to sell, so he can keep doing it as long as he feels like it.

Barring a property tax increase, I guess.

no, he totally is just a guy who loves to fix up old furniture! I had fun chatting with him and am glad he is open when he feels like it.

I love the idea of owning a business that is only open when I feel like it, but not quite so much the idea of needing or wanting to patronize a business that is only open when the owner feels like it. :-}
