I was just down there...and the cars were honking and people were screaming...

falcon sighting

Has anybody else seen a falcon hanging around? At least that's what I think it is - hooked bill, 3-4 times the size of a pigeon, light grey speckles. It flew onto a roof and perched up there for a while, looking all important. Spooked a cat, who hid under my front stairs. (Do falcons eat cats?) This was near the intersection of Summer & Linden, on a side street.

Thank you, United States of America, for becoming more like Davis Square today.

The Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society marching band performed outside the Holland Street T entrance around 9:30 last night, then sauntered down the sidewalk to Sabur restaurant in Teele Square, where State Senator Pat Jehlen and State Rep. Denise Provost hosted a victory party.

Forgive my ignorance, but now that the ban on dog racing thankfully has been passed, what happens to the dogs?
Will they be put to sleep? Go to the mspca? Did they have a follow up program prepared?

If not, can we start something? Because we will need to act fast to make this vote not be in vain if they don't already have a plan.

What's available from the Davis Farmer's Market these days?

I mostly ask because I'm wondering if there are any farms around who have quince, as I've been reading about it and would really like to try cooking it. I'm also curious if there are any vegetables available nowadays except for various squash-like things. Thanks!
