Sighted

To the man I saw walking along College Avenue this morning at 9:00 AM dressed in full steampunk regalia, including top hat and monocle, I just want to say thank you for contributing significant awesomeness to our neighborhood, and also to my morning's commute!

Street parking, parking garages, and the joys of driving in Davis Square

Hello everyone!

I'm considering moving to Davis Square this summer. Everything's perfect about the apartment (and Davis Square in general seems awesome), but the single reason I'm hesitant is because of the parking situation. I currently live in Central Square, and I pay $150 a month for a reserved parking space. But the new apartment only has street parking available, and I can't give up my car because I need to drive to work every day.

So my questions are:
1. Are there any parking lots/garages you know of that I could rent a space for around what I'm paying now? Location doesn't matter too much, since I'd probably mainly use the space when it snows and when I'm on vacation, and I'm willing to walk.

2. For those of you that park on the street, what do you do with your car when you go on vacation? Or even just a long weekend?

3. What's the street cleaning schedule like? Is there cleaning in the winter?

Thanks!

Music

I know it's a little random, but I met two musically-minded people looooong ago at a meetup (Rudy's maybe?) and totally forgot their lj names. Penny and someone who had just moved to the area, if you're reading.
I'm definitely posting days late, but I figure I'd ask if anyone was interested in being a concert buddy as I'm sick of having friends who don't see live music and I'm getting bored going alone!

Thao with the Get Down Stay Down is tonight, $10 at TT's... anyone going?

also next Next Thursday (28th) are Au Revoir Simone, $14

I realize this isn't the standard Davis Sq post, but we all know how cool this community is, so I'm trying :)
