Shop Small MA Presents Somerville Holiday Markets
Shop Small MA will host markets at Warehouse XI and La Brasa before teaming up with Courtney O’Keefe to co-host a final market in the main hall of the historic Armory.

Somerville, MA - Shop Small MA has teamed up with Tiny Turns Paperie and Courtney O’Keefe to present holiday markets spread across Somerville this season. Vendors will be setting up shop in Warehouse XI (11 Sanborn Court), La Brasa (124 Broadway) and the main hall of the historic Armory (191 Highland Avenue) with crafted goods perfect to conquer anyone’s shopping list. These events are free to the public (with a suggested $3 donation at the door for the Armory Market).

“Goods made from local artists adds a special touch that you can’t really get from big box, corporate items,” said Shop Small MA founder Vanessa Yip. “There’s an incredible community that is born from buying local. It spurs economic growth and keeps our amazing crafts people in business. It’s a win / win.”

The Union Square Holiday Market, presented by Tiny Turns Paperie and Shop Small MA, will be held at Warehouse XI on Friday December 13 from 4-10pm and Saturday December 14 from 10-6pm. The E-Som Market will be held on Tuesday December 17 from 5-10pm at La Brasa. The Wrap It Up! Winter Market at the Armory on Sunday December 22 from 11-5pm is your last call to shop small (you can also sip while you shop at the Armory, with the Armory bar offering a selection of wine, as well as beers from event sponsors Narragansett Beer and Notch Brewing.)

“Please remember to use cash when paying for goods at these markets. This helps our vendors avoid credit card fees and boosts profits,” added Armory market co-host Courtney O’Keefe. “These events are also surrounded by amazing locally owned, independent businesses and restaurants. Make it a point to frequent those with cash in hand not only before or after attending the market, but all year round!”

Hi Friends,

As you may have heard, Somerville Local First (where I serve on the board), is holding its annual fundraiser and tasting event, Harvest Fest, on Saturday, October 17 at the Arts at the Armory. This is one of the best events of the year—you get a taste from a bunch of Somerville’s best restaurants and get to sample some of the best in local brews from around New England. All for only $35!

I'm writing to encourage you to come out to support Somerville Local First while having fun with friends new and old. In addition to the usual delicious food and beer tastings, we’ll have games set up to keep you entertained and we have an excellent lineup of local musicians set to perform. This is the major annual fundraiser for the organization, and filling the room is vital for our financial success over the coming year. Think of this as the easiest donation you could make--support SLF and have an amazing time with your friends.

You can purchase your tickets here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2214284

Hope to see you there!

Center Stage Somerville presents

The Pushcart War
Book by Jean Merrill
Adapted by Jenny Vernick

Friday, August 15th, 6:00 PM
The Center For Arts at the Armory
191 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143
$2 suggested donation

A war is being fought on the streets of New York City!

The pushcart peddlers, led by Maxine Hammerman, believe that they deserve to sell their wares on the street. But the big trucks are taking over the streets, crowding New York City in one big traffic jam. Come see the ferocious General Anna, the quiet Dorris the Florist, and the crackpot Frank the Flower as they rebel against the trucks using nothing but peashooters and bravery as the Mayor tries desperately to keep the streets of his city--as well as his precious peanut butter--safe. This ridiculously silly show is sure to be a hit for all ages!
