Rosebud Bar & Grill - Red Rose dance club on Friday nights

I just got this on the Somerville Arts Council e-mail list:

Subject: Sweet Soul Music in Davis Square

This Friday, July 17, Red Rose Soul Club kicks off at the Rosebud Bar & Grill in Davis Square (directly behind the Rosebud diner car). This new, FREE weekly dance party features rare 60s soul, New Orleans R&B, northern, funk, boogaloo, and more, hosted and DJ'ed by Somerville musician, artist and record fanatic Jordan Valentine (Sunday Saints, World's Greatest Sinners). Come dance to some of best records you didn't know existed!

The evening begins at 10pm--right after ArtBeat by Night. For more information, check out http://jordanvalentine.com/redrose .

3 bedroom in Somerville artist community available now

I have just about locked in the 2nd roommate that I needed for my place. We now have 2 units with friends who are all industrial musicians, noise artists, dj's, promoters, performance artists, etc. The bottom floor 3 bedroom is open for $1700.

This unit has just been finished and is now available and we want to get artists and the like minded in there.

Contact me if interested.

police log

Does anyone publish a police log for Somerville these days? WickedLocal used to do it, but that's been dead for a while now. I checked the PD's website but there's nothing there. The crime maps haven't even been updated since 2006.

Kate's Mystery Books closing on August 1

An e-mail from the Porter Sq Neighbors mailing list. This has been expected for quite a while now:

Many of you have been aware that I have had the building which houses the store on the market for awhile. I have finally sold it. I of course have mixed feelings about this but know it is the right decision for me. The new owners have allowed me to stay on for a while but Kate's Mystery Books will be closing on August 1st. Between now and then, everything in the store will be sold at 25% off. On Saturday, August 1st, we will be having a packing party from 11-5 AND we will also have our Annual Yard Sale (books $1 and under) at the same time.
