Zippy goes to the Rosebud

The Rosebud Diner is going to be featured in the Zippy the Pinhead cartoon on Tuesday, March 29, 2005. And I live about five blocks from it. Sweet.

How did you hear about this?

Excellent! I'll walk by tomorrow and take a look. Thanks for the pointer!

ISTR that the Melrose, a classic diner in South Philly, was featured in a Zippy strip at one point as well.

Bill Griffith (the cartoonist) has been on a years-long kick of having his principal characters wander through visually interesting American landmarks, I think mostly just because he likes to draw them. Another recent strip featured the Harvard Lampoon's "Castle" (http://www.harvardlampoon.com/history/castle.htm) in Harvard Square -- I actually didn't know what that building was until I saw it in the strip!

I trained my eyes to avoid Zippy on comix pages. I'll have to ignore that to see the Rosebud!
