Redbones to open in Malden?

With much sadness I am reporting another excellent market (not quite supermarket) is closing: the Rosebud Produce market, on Commercial Street in Malden (halfway between Wellington and Malden orange line T stops).  I was there today, and signs say they are closing on May 11.  I will miss their inexpensive deli meats and inexpensive produce.  Most of all I will miss their sub sandwiches, which were the best priced yet Tastiest subs I've ever had. Sigh.

They are being purchased by a "Cambridge restaurant", which is Redbones, according to the Rosebud employees.

Pertinent to the Davis Square community: Is the Davis Square one closing/moving, or will this be a second location?  Two pluses for this location are the potential of more seating, and Parking!  Minus is that it's not really walkable easily from either of those two T stops.

I HIGHLY doubt they're moving. They make bank there.

no way in hell a place like redbones would LEAVE its thriving business in davis square to go to the less populace accessible Malden. Much more likely they are doing great and want to open a second location. Risky business, hope it doesn't put them under.

I agree. It sounds to me like they want to add a large location, one that people can drive to, so that fans who have moved to suburbia can still buy from them.

They do already have a catering kitchen right behind City Slicker café, so maybe a Malden location would add to/replace that kitchen?

they are also about to add a second food truck, as well.

This all sounds a bit dubious given that Redbones is not a "Cambridge restaurant" at all.

Well, they do sometimes have an outpost in Kendall (near where the ice rink is in winter). But true, definitely a "Somerville restaurant". Then again, maybe Cambridge and Somerville seem more or less interchangeable from Malden? ;-)

Redbones Malden is going to be a second location, thankfully.
