I just finished reading it. The chef Omar wouldn't work in a place that serves alcohol, but will cook (or at least allow to be cooked) pork?

Seems odd. Though I don't think there are a lot of straightforward answers in this relationship. I thought things had died down.

Although it hasn't been in the news for a while, I figured it *would* be news if it were ever resolved, so no news meant it was probably continuing.

Not sure that "we tolerate each other and leave each other alone" would ever qualify as news, since a "resolution" really isn't the expected outcome. They just don't like each other.

Depending on his denomination, that is probably a legitimate distinction. Pork is forbidden because of cleanliness/purity laws so there's no harm in feeding it to non-believers as long as you don't partake yourself (and also I think, but I may be wrong about this, it is permissible to eat haram foods if there is no other food around and you would otherwise starve). On the other hand alcohol is forbidden because it destroys lives and communities, and there are never circumstances where it is allowable, so by serving it you are enabling something that is very harmful.

Right, isn't that a LOT weird?

Kelly's all the way.

Absolutely. My husband and I always crack up as we stroll past the ridiculous Breakfast War lines and head straight to Kelly's where the breakfast just can't be beat.

But doesn't Kelly's usually have a line, too?
