Denise's

So Denise's Homemade Ice Cream is now a JP Licks.

Anyone know when this happened? They still had the Denise's signs up last night, so it must be recent.

They're hiring, so presumably they got rid of the old staff when they changed owners.

Anyone know if the Arlington branch is still Denise's?

I don't think it's such a bad thing. At least JP Licks is a local business.

The Arlington branch is still a Denise's (as of yesterday). This is so confusing! :)

That's so disturbing. I wonder what happened...

I asked them the last time I was there, and they said that everything was supposed to stay exactly the same, including the name Denise's, and that it was just the ownership that had changed. I am of course a bit skeptical, but heck... the ice cream sure tasted just as good as ever. :D

i know they no longer carry Green Tea ice cream.. =(

i noticed that too. they had changed over all the flavors to jp licks flavors which would maybe be ok except that there were far fewer flavors. i mean, i like jp licks a bunch but i liked denise's too. i liked the variety. bah! and then on top of it i heard something about them firing all the denise's staff and replacing 'em with jp licks folks. le sigh.

Yea I was just there a couple hours ago ... (with two 5 year olds no less ...) and I noticed that ... :-( I liked the old flavors

But oh well ... it could be worse

According to this post (http://www.livejournal.com/community/menotomy/6928.html) in the [livejournal.com profile] menotomy community, the Arlington branch is out of business.

This makes me so sad! I currently live in Terre Haute, IN, (grad school) but lived in the Davis area for ~5 years and return to it whenever I can. I am so upset with myself for forgoing my usual stop at Denise's when I was last there (two weeks ago) 'cuz it was cold outside and I (stupidly, apparently) figured I could go the next time I was in town. They had the best unique flavors!

:( no more sex on the beach sorbet for me.
i mean, i like jp licks, but there are already 3 convenient branches for me to go to (Back Bay, Coolidge Corner, and Newton Centre are all near other places i have to go)! going to miss Denise's...

What on Earth?

Get out! Just 30 mins ago, I mentioned to my husband that we should ride our bikes there for dessert. Like jencallisto said, sex on the beach is a seasonal sorbet of theirs that totally rocked! They are/were always really sensitive about non-dairy items. I don't think that JP has as many sorbet varieties ... or raspberry lime rickies. Tears!!!

They're still selling raspberry lime rickies in Arlington, at least. And I'm pretty sure they had some sorbets (though not, alas, sex on the beach).
