move for uncapped liquor licenses

posted a few minutes ago to the City of Somerville Facebook Page:

At the request of Mayor Curtatone, the Board of Aldermen is submitting a Home Rule Petition to the state that would lift the cap on liquor licenses. The aim is to issue them to restaurants. While other cities and towns including Cambridge can issue unlimited licenses, some restaurants that would like to open here do not because Somerville is capped at 84 licenses. Read the Mayor’s Op Ed here: http://bit.ly/mZFTFr

(now, hopefully they will get in on removing the law that says that mobile food items - food trucks, hot dog stands, etc - are by law in Somerville required to be within 50 yards of a kitchen where the food is prepared (I may have that distance incorrect, but I remember that is why you don't see any of the Boston areas burgeoning food truck scene in Somerville).)

You will have to join the Boston SciFi/Fantasy Meetup to RSVP, but it is free, and if you want to quit the meetup after the party, it will not hurt my feelings at all! Alternately, if you'd rather join Nerd Fun (also free, they have events that range from Science Lectures to Scavenger Hunts and all things in between), you can RSVP with them instead:

http://www.meetup.com/NerdFunBoston/events/32024842/

We have just under 50 people RSVPd so far, but I'm hoping to get to our maximum of 100 so that I don't take a big loss on this. Thanks!

Want to buy my gym membership?

I've been going to the Boston Sports Club in Davis, and I love it, but unfortunately I can no longer afford it. My contract goes until April, so I am trying to sell my membership (as that's the only way I can get out without paying a huge fee).

It's $71 a month, plus a $39 transfer fee (which I will pay). I think it's too late to transfer for October, but November should be fine.

It's a great gym, nice and new and shiny, and it has really good classes. The Friday vinyasa yoga with Whitney is especially awesome.
