COME TO JOHNNY D'S September 30th

"From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, join other green commuters for a Walk/Ride Day Green Drinks Happy Hour at Johnny D's in Davis Square, with free appetizers to those who come to mingle, chat, and drink. We will be celebrating Walk/Ride Day, of course, and the fact that it’s Friday, and the official start of HONK! weekend at one of our favorite spots in town."

(Walk/Ride Day is a Go Green program promoting environmentally sustainable commuting options, such as biking, taking the T, walking, etc.)

a friend of mine is coming to visit this weekend and wants to go out for brunch on sunday or possibly saturday. (in my head it's sunday but i guess it could be saturday too.) i got as far as "well, there's a jazz brunch at johnny d's" and then drew a total blank. so i appeal to the fabulous people of the dslj for recommendations. :D where are the tasty brunch places? also, has anyone been to the jazz brunch at johnny d's, and how is it?

my friend, in her own words, likes "delicious things" and is kind of a foodie, and i don't think brunch has to be in greater davis. if that helps.

My mother gave couple of her rings, and they're a size too small. I've been hearing far too many stories of rings being stolen lately, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a trustworthy jeweler who can re-size a ring on the spot while I watch.

The Somerville Bicycle Committee invites you to ride our 19th Annual Tour de Somerville.  This year's theme is "Arts in the 'Ville".

We'll meet at 10 am on Saturday, October 15 in Seven Hills Park, behind the Holland Street MBTA entrance in Davis Square. We will depart promptly at 10:15.

The tour will ride by places throughout Somerville where art is produced, exhibited, or performed.  We'll get off our bikes to visit the new Artisan's Asylum (home base to Somerville's SCUL art-bike gang), the new Mudflat, and Fringe at Olive Square.  We'll also briefly stop by several artists' studio buildings where Open Studios will occur later this fall: BrickbottomJoy StreetVernon Street, and Washington Street Art Center.

More information will be available at http://SomervilleBikes.org/events.html .

A tentative route map, showing all* of the Somerville art-related places we're aware of, is at http://goo.gl/NpP19 .

A ride poster is at http://goo.gl/Cgr5R (PDF) or  http://goo.gl/dP8fC (JPG)

If there is steady rain on Saturday, we'll postpone the ride to Sunday, October 16, same starting place and time.

(* We think that our map lists every Somerville art-related place that isn't a private residence.  If we've overlooked something important, please comment on this post and tell us what we've left out.)

ETA, 10/22/11: If you'd like to take your own self-guided bike tour, maps and PDF guide are available here.

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time (?) poster. I wanted to let folks know that my car window was smashed a few nights ago. Nothing was taken from the car, but a little bit of our piece of mind was taken away.

Many folks park on Winslow Ave because it is so close to Davis Square and our T stop. I know this could have happened anywhere or to anyone, but I wanted to let people know to be careful when parking here.

All the best to everyone!
