Darul Kebab open

Heard that Darul Kebab is open. Anyone tried it?

It's the new halal Bangladeshi/Indian/Pakistani place
in the old KFC spot at the corner of Mass Ave. and Walden
in North Cambridge.

Polaroid Film

I have one of those polaroid instant cameras. According to the camera, it's a one600. I am looking for film for it. I know I could get some off the internet (if I could figure out which kind I need), but I am hoping there is somewhere in town I can pick some up.

Any ideas?

Somerville parking: when do I have to move my car?

This is my first year parking on the street during the snowy season, so I have a question that might be kind of silly. (I looked back in the archives a bit, and I couldn't find anything relevant, though...)

I remember reading somewhere on the Somerville website (though I can't find a link now) that a car can't be parked in the same on-street space for more than X days, even with a valid resident permit.

Is this actually a rule? If so, how many days are you allowed to go without moving your car? And is this rule actually enforced during winter?

I left my car in a nice spot on the odd-numbered side of my street before I left town last weekend, and I'd really like to not have to shovel it out before I actually need to use the car. Or possibly until spring.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated :)

Edit: Thanks, everyone, for the information. I put on my big girl pants and dug the car out tonight. This stuff is surprisingly light, for how deep it is!

Remember the Salt & Pepper Cafe?


At least 10 years ago, probably longer, there was a cafe in the place Dave's Fresh Pasta currently occupies. I'm pretty sure it was called the Salt & Pepper Cafe.

They used to sell biscuits; in particular, they sold the MOST delicious sweet potato biscuits I've ever eaten in my entire life. I've tried replicating them from various recipes I've found with no luck whatsoever.

Does anyone know who used to own that place and how to get in touch with him/her/them? Maybe I can get the recipe from them...
