Fire in Magoun Square

There is currently a fire in Magoun Square. I cannot say for definite and am not currently near the scene any more, but it looks to be at least very close to the New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA) clubhouse.

I'm hoping for minimal property damage and no loss of life.

Somerville preliminary election next Tuesday, September 24; Weekly Dig, Journal, Patch coverage

Somerville Wards 1, 3, and 5 will hold preliminary elections next Tuesday, September 24. In Wards 1 and 3, the election will reduce the number of ward-alderman candidates to two. In Ward 5, the election is for School Committee.

I made a long post about the election last month, with lists of and links to all of the candidates. It didn't get much discussion at the time, maybe because it was August. Now might be a good time to start paying attention.

The Weekly Dig has posted this guide to the Ward 1, 3, and 5 races.

ETA: For another view of the preliminary election, read Ken Brociner's recent Somerville Journal column.

ETA2: Somerville Patch's guide to the preliminary election, with links to profiles and questionnaire answers from every candidate.

ETA3: Somerville Journal endorses McLaughlin, Bremer, and Pitone

Explain This Twitter Thing... "Uhhh I seem to have accidentally walked from Davis to Harvard Sq..."

I have a Twitter search set up for "Davis Sq" just to see if there's anything going on that I might have missed.

I keep seeing the following message, posted by seemingly random people at random times. I did a Google search and found nothing.

Uhhh I seem to have accidentally walked from Davis to Harvard Sq…

It's been tweeted about 10 times in the last 3 days.

Anyone have a clue what it's about?

Amelia's in Teele Sq?

Does anyone know what happened to Amelia's? The windows are papered over and there is construction work going on.
