mr.crepe?
i went to mr. crepe tonight to pick up some dinner. the verdict? pretty tasty fillings with a crisp yet pliant crepe, but not as tasty as the paris creperie.
i really like how bright and clean it is in there- the woman who took my order was also very friendly and welcoming. it also seems as though the tea and coffee selection is fairly large to appease those who would just like to lounge and people watch.

Defending the dissolution of relationship with a former partner, he wrote (here (http://groups.google.com/group/somedaycommunity/browse_thread/thread/c129f0b2296f51ef/bd08b8660a34ac1e#bd08b8660a34ac1e)): "Redha is Algerian. These people typically support on another,
something I don't regard as a bad thing. It sort of patriotic.
However, any person who is algerian that I knew and that knew Redha
thinks very little of him." this wasn't the only time he saw fit to mention the race of someone, as if it made any sort of difference.
As for being a liar, he DEFINITELY lied when the whole Someday close down was going on. He (and Fraiman) led folks to believe that he would back off from the space if someone could help him find another location. He never had any intention of doing that.

What kind of business is Magpie?

(and I first heard about Magpie on the Davis LJ too, which shows how local LJs can be a great tool for local business owners to meet their communities)

For what it's worth, when it opened, the only time we went there, we were violently ill afterwards. Maybe it was an aberration (I hope it was!), but I haven't yet been back.

first impression
The plain coffee was pretty good but there was no cream on the condiment table only milk. Splenda was available! Specialty coffee drinks were fine although I'm not a fan of coffee in a glass.
Ordering was a little haphazard as there is no menu board (yet?) and one had to share the laminated menus at the counter with the order taker hurrying you along. Get that blackboard up, Mr. Crepe!
Crepes were good, pretty much the same as in the old place on Holland. From the time the order went in, coffee was made on the spot and there was about a ten minute wait for the crepes.
They need some more tables especially for one or two. All the tables had four chairs mostly occupied by, um, one or two people.
The place is clean and modern if somewhat stark and pretty loud.
As they are only open a week, I'm sure things will get better as the get the hang of things.
So Mr. Crepe, more tables, a menu board and chill on the heat.
