I know that craft stores like Michaels always have this kind of thing. The closest one is in Everett.
There's also a great craft store in Arlington right off Broadway called Playtime Crafts and they have tons of fake flowers and foliage in the lower level but you'd probably want to call to make sure they have what you're looking for.
oh... one more thought... There's an iParty... In Brighton I believe -- I'm never sure exactly what town that area is considered. And they have tons of plastic kitschy crapola for decorating. I was there recently and noticed quite a large selection of Christmas decorations so you might want to call them too.
I believe there's also an iParty at the Meadow Glen mall (Medford). Not simple to get to via public transportation but it's not very far and is an easy drive from Davis Square.
AC Moore is a lot like Michaels & Assembly Square is a lot easier to get to if you don't have a car. I know they have a ton of fake flowers & such, including Christmas-type plants, but can't say about Mistletoe for sure. Like Playtime, you probably want to call first.
Funny thing is, Meadow Glen Mall is just two miles (40 minute walk) from Davis Square. But nobody thinks of it as nearby, because there's no direct way to get there by bus. (I think you can do it by changing buses in Medford Square, but that's way out of the way.)
When I lived in Davis Square proper, I did walk there a couple of times, but at that time I had a car so more often I drove to get there. I did try one time to see if there was a convenient way to get there by bus, and there wasn't.
Christmas Tree Shop has a surprisingly poor selection of Christmas stuff (for example, they don't really have many fake Christmas trees)... They're more an overstock outlet for cheap stuff that didn't sell last Christmas.
I definitely saw fake mistletoe at the AC Moore in Assembly Square, but that was probably 2 weeks ago. I also purchased a real mistletoe "kissing ball" at a florist on Highland Ave last year - somewhere sort of near the high school, I think.
BTW, mistletoe berries are poisonous to animals, so fake is often the safest option. :)
The 90 bus route will take you to from Davis Wellington, by way of the Assembly Square mall. It doesn't run amazingly often, but it's one hop almost to the door of A.C. Moore, and not a bad walk from Wellington to the mall Michael's is in.
I went to Michaels last year looking for it and was told they do not carry it. They sent me to cvs, which was also unsuccessful as the flower shop at willow & highland. Ended up using a rhododendron sprig as a substitute at my xmas party. Turns out not many people actually know what mistletoe looks like, so only a couple people noticed.
