Fake street sweeping cancellation call?

I heard there was street sweeping this morning in Somerville. What the? Wasn't it canceled for the rest of the season according to that phonecall yesterday? Fortunately I wasn't on the wrong side of the street, but I'm sure some people got screwed by this. This is SO somerville... Any information on this?

They sometimes sweep what they can without requiring people to move their cars. The broadcast message plus my email from Kim at 311 though say official, move-your-car street cleaning is over for the year.

This was Beacon street, in the Kirkland/Washington street area.

The robo-call said that parking regulations related to street-sweeping will not be enforced any more. It did not say that no more street sweeping will occur. A subtle but important difference.

In other words: They will still send out the sweepers, but they won't ticket anyone who's parked in the sweeper's way. The sweeper will probably just do whatever it can get to, on the "every little bit helps" theory.

Well, by virtue of the fact that there are no parking tickets involved, yes, it is less "so somerville"!! Definitely.
