Hi, I am moving to Somerville in January and am very interested in starting a Recipe Club!  Ok, now it sounds a little silly, but it's actually a lot of fun, especially if you get into it.

Once a month we’d meet and eat at a different host’s house. Each member brings their delectable dish and copies of their recipe that goes along with the month’s theme.  Everyone leaves happy, full and with new recipes- what more could you ask for?

I'm proposing that the group start meeting/eating at the end of January/beginning of February.  I hope that there is some interest out there!

This sounds like a fun idea!

I'm not joining up because I'm vegan, but it does make me think that maybe my Hezbollah-like splinter faction should start one of our own, too. :)

I no longer live in the area (still addicted though - can't stop reading somerville politics) but a group where I live now did something similar to what you're proposing, only did it as a 100-mile local food challenge. certainly more difficult in the winter, but wonderfully easy spring-fall to use locally grown and raised ingredients. Here's a link (http://annapoliseatlocal.pbwiki.com/FrontPage) to the website detailing their challenge. Not trying to hijack your idea - your plan, your methods - I just wanted to give a shout out for all the great local farmers.

I think this is an awesome idea. I tried doing a cooking comm ages ago with a friend of mine but we had different ideas about how to run it... needless to say, it never happened.

I would definitely join. :)

Isn't it totally sad that we vegans always figure there's no place for us in a recipe club? I'd be all over a splinter faction vegan sub-club. There are certainly enough of us around here! The question is whether any of us is the organizing type... ::whistles::

Would y'all be willing to accept those with ... less training ... than others?

Sounds exciting! I eat everything but am happy to lean toward vegetables.

I'm not vegan but I am an avid cook and love trying challenging new recipes, so I would definitely be interested in a vegan cooking club.

Sounds like fun, I'd be interested in participating. Also, not vegetarian, but like to experiment with vegan baking.

Same here. Vegetarian too, but I'd be totally down with the idea of a recipe club.

Count me in. I'm getting tired of eating the same ol' stuff and could use some new ideas.
