Crime Alert
Dec. 19th, 2007 10:44 amI thought people might want to know because I never seem to hear about these things on the news....and I think this is technically somerville (though it might be just over the somerville line).
Shortly before 1 a.m. on December 18, 2007, the Tufts Police responded to a report from a Tufts student of an armed robbery that occurred at the intersection of Powderhouse Blvd. and Packard Ave. in Somerville. The suspect showed a handgun and demanded money, which the student gave him. The suspect then fled the area. In the course of responding to that incident, police found a second victim, who was not affiliated with Tufts, and reported a similar scenario on Packard Ave. Both victims described the suspect as follows:
Black male, approximately 25 years old, wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans, scruffy goatee, and white knit snow cap. In both cases, the suspect showed a black handgun.
An area search conducted by both the Tufts Police and the Somerville Police proved negative. The Somerville Police later received a report of a similar incident, with the same suspect description, near the Cambridge/Somerville line. At this time, no suspects have been identified in these incidents.
