I usually just watch this community but recently made a journal so I can post as well. I know this is going to be a long shot but I hope just maybe someone can help me...

Yesterday morning one half of my pair of YakTrax came off in the snow and now I can't find it. I went back last night and managed to follow my footprints in the snow. I can tell where I still had two, but I lost my trail over the bare pavement.

The search area has been narrowed to: the Kidder-Morrison block of Highland Road (not entirely sure which side), and Morrison between Highland Road and Willow (north/odd side of the street).

If anyone sees a lonely little YakTrak could you please comment here and let me know?

Update: I found my YakTrak now that the snow has melted!

Sadly, it was kind of rusted from having sat out in the wet for a few days.  :(

Thanks to those who were keeping an eye out!

I'm grateful I found the one I lost this morning near Store 24, before somebody picked it up to give to you! ... (Right, 'cause THAT's likely.) Srsly, good luck finding it. I was pissed as hell when I thought I'd lost one!

Seriously! I lost a red leather glove a couple weeks ago and while I went out and bought a new pair, I'd have loved a site like that to post to. Hmm, any enterprising coders want to take a bite?

If we did my cat (http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/601586.html) would need his own page.

I had one of my Yaktrax break yesterday as I was putting them on. The rubber just snapped - and it another place on the same Yaktrak was almost broken. The other one was fine. I was bummed; I hadn't even had them a year yet! I had to get a new pair at City Sports just so I could get home.

Not helpful, I know...but I do feel your pain. I was tempted to just wear the one on one foot to get to work...

I'm confused as to how you could lose one and not notice right away. I mean, wouldn't the sudden asymmetry and loss of traction be obvious?

(But glad you found yours, and good luck to the OP!)

That's what I would have thought! But I didn't notice, or else I just put it down to the general asymmetry and intermittent traction of walking on snow & ice. I'm glad I found it too!

Yeah, one of my boyfriend's YakTrax snapped, though it's still usable.

A really good and easy home remedy for small rusty things is to cook up some spinach with lemon juice or vinegar and then soak the small rusty thing in said spinach-lemon mixture. The oxalic acid from the spinach will remove the rust.

My God, I am Queen Dork sometimes.
