Wacky!

I just got a robo-call from the Somerville Police asking for help identifying a masked gunman that robbed the East Cambridge Savings Bank on Highland Ave this evening.  They're looking for a "gray, 2007 Infiniti G35 coupe, with the license plate number 21MC99."

So, if you've seen a gray Infiniti floating about the neighborhood, call the Somerville Police.

Oh, and here's the blub about it from Boston.com

I was driving through Davis this afternoon around 130 and outside of the Bank of America was 3 cops, 2 meter people and the security guard for the bank. As I sat waiting for the light ahead to turn green I was watching and they all looked stressed out, on phones etc. Then a cop car took off with lights on. Wonder if something weird happened there too?

This went out to households in a 1/2 mile radius from the scene of the crime:

This is Captain Paul Upton of the Somerville Police calling to request your assistance with the investigation of a bank robbery that occurred this evening at about 5:15 p.m.

The armed robbery occurred at the East Cambridge Savings Bank at 285 Highland Avenue. No one was injured, but a lone gunman fled the bank with an undetermined amount of money. He also took the personal vehicle of one of the employees. Investigators believe that the suspect may have abandoned this vehicle nearby, and are requesting the public's assistance in locating this car.

The car is a gray, 2007 Infiniti, Model G35 coupe with a Massachusetts Plate number of 21MC99. Please take a moment to look at the vehicles parked on your street. If you see this car, contact Somerville Police at 617 625-1212. In addition, if you were in the vicinity of Highland Avenue and Cedar St. between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. today and you observed anyone or anything that appeared to be suspicious, please get in touch with the Somerville Police or the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force by calling the same number: 617-625-1212. Thank you for your assistance.

I know this is a very serious subject indeed, but, those tellers at that bank must be sick and tired of getting held up!

According to this Somerville Journal report:
http://www.wickedlocal.com/somerville/homepage/x603845739

Four employees were tied up in the basement. It's astonishing that this sort of thing happened twice in less than a year at the same bank (near my house ....)

We had noticed the sounds of helicopters hovering overhead for about an hour before we got the call. We had been wondering what was up. If I remember correctly from the last time, the robber grabbed a bank employee either the night before or very early in the morning, and then went with them to 'open' the bank! Very scary. This time, apparently, the robber left in an employees' car. Very strange. I had driven by the bank on my way home right about the time it happened (they said it was just before closing, which is 5:00). Weird that this bank would be hit twice in such a short time, when there have been no other bank robberies around here in recent memory. Could their security be lax, or is it just bad luck?

Inside Job!

2 robberies at the same bank where employees were tied up and the crooks then took an employee's car? Call Denzel!

For real. I can only imagine a teller going "what, AGAIN? Just fucking...take my keys. I'm gonna walk home...I need to vent."
