All the showings are open to the public and you will not be treated like a leper if you have no affliliation with Tufts (but don't mention if you work for the Somerville Journal and please, no cameras).
Film Series has a similar schedule every week and they usually post the actual films and show times at www.tuftslife.com. I warn people that the students doing the projection make mistakes and there is usually a short intermission to change reels because one of the projectors has been broken. You do get at least what you paid for.
At MIT, there's also an all day Saturday (noon to midnight) Civic Defense Film Festival and a special showing of Beowulf at MIT on Friday. The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics has a sci-fi movie Friday night.
All these and others can be found in the BFF Calendar at http://tinyurl.com/2z8spc The calendar is getting quite robust and there are lots of free film options for all kinds of tastes. Check in constantly for updates.
