From a note from [livejournal.com profile] fanw, I see that according to FundRace.org, everyone in 02144 who has donated money this political season has given it to Democrats. (Moreover, of 67 donors, I note that about 60% of them gave to Dean.)

This is hardly surprising, but I expected at least one Republican. Even my old neighborhood in San Francisco has Republican donors. I mean, there's a Bush bumper sticker on Wallace St., even as I type. They can't all have been driven from Davis Square.

maybe even the local republicans don't feel the current republican agenda is worth supporting. one can be -against- the democratic agenda, and still not -for- their own party, in the present moment. (or vice versa.) i miss dean :(

There were republicans here, or at least people that voted for bush, in the last election. I remember being curious as to how each district voted, percentage-wise. to be honest, i was a little shocked that there were people in davis who voted republican. but, celebrate diversity is our credo here, so ......

Huh. I've given both to Dean and to Kerry, and I live in 02144, and my name's not on there. What's scary, though, is that when I do a search for my last name, 9 records come up, and they all gave to Bush! Blech! I take consolation from the fact that it's almost certain that none of them are related to me.

The records on fundrace.org are very incomplete, so it's entirely possible that there were some Republicans in this ZIP code whose donations aren't listed. I think they pretty much have every donation of $200 and up, but I'm not sure. I know they're missing an awful lot of under-$200 donations - including an awful lot of mine.

Maybe Republicans prefer to give via illegal means (http://www.commoncause.org/publications/jan01/020101.htm). No, wait, that's Kerry supporters (http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/2004/la-na-kerry19feb19,1,745120.story?coll=la-home-headlines)...

yeah, I don't think this is a very complete list. I donated to kucinich this year, and I'm not on there.

Either we're amazingly left, or the GOP just hasn't provided any donor data. I don't see any Republicans on opensecrets.org, either.

I think they only report donations of over $100 cumulatively to any one candidate (generally, tho I see several lower donations on the list). So maybe the Republicans in 02144 aren't as wealthy as one really ought to be to be a Republican.

In any case my $ to Kucinich didn't show up.

There are plenty of Republicans listed on fundrace in other zip codes (eg my hometown, 26505, and my husband's, 08540). I think Davis Square is just amazingly left ;). ...surely this doesn't surprise anyone?
