FYI those of you who live around Morrison/Kidder area, I just chased some kids off from stealing my neighbors bike that was locked to his front gate.  You may see them running past your house, two young teens with a GIANT red lock cutter -- they really could not have been any more conspicuous -- oh, we're not doing anything with this brightly colored lock cutter.....  Anyhoo, it is probably worthwhile to start bringing your bikes in for the next few weeks.

Yeah, make sure to call 911 when you see suspicious activity!
The pet peeve of the police expressed at this week's Davis Square Task Force
meeting is how people post suspicious activity to discussion forums or email lists
and then don't call the police about it until it's too late for them to do anything about.

Also, if you have a digital camera, a photo of the kids carrying that tool would be very helpful to the police.

Um, OK, but given the amount of old/new tension (or if you will, Villen vs. Yuppie) in the area, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some self-styled revolutionary who's, ah, a *lifelong resident of Somerville* freeing tools of the bourgeoise from the chains of oppression...
