This isn't directly related to Somerville, but it is deeply related to this LJ community as part of LJ, and is a pretty darn major event. I beg the mods' indulgence in posting this.
The first ever election for user representative to the Livejournal Advisory Board ends TONIGHT at 9 pm Pacific / midnight EST.
Please vote.
I urge folks not to start a potentially contentious discussion of the candidates here. There are other communities for that (which due to comments I have decided no longer to link here), and many of us have posted our own thoughts in our personal LJs already. I just have spoken to a lot of local LJers recently who weren't really aware of the election, its importance, or that it ends today. If you love your Livejournal, and/or if you want this community to stay healthy and strong on LJ well into the future, this election is worth paying attention to and voting in.
ETA: The SOLE reason I posted this is because this community,
davis_square, has gained a real and important role in the civic life of the physical-world community, Davis Square, and of Somerville at large. This LJ community, being hosted on LJ, is subject to LJ's rules and caprices. LJ is offering those of us who rely on its service a chance to vote for a representative. Who this rep is - or even *whether more than a tiny handful of people bother to vote* may have direct effects on the future of LJ, which affects
davis_square. That's why I thought it was worth posting.
