Red Line is shut down this morning.  Take the bus if you can!

Update: Trains are running as of 9:15 after a small fire at Porter.  You late risers can just pretend this never happened.

time?

As of what time, and what part?

here (http://www.mbta.com/rider_tools/transit_updates/?ttype=subway&route=Red+Line#details) is the MBTA advisory. Looks like a fire near Porter.

A friend of mine just called and echoed your heed to avoid the T. He said the busses were really full, though.

The MBTA web site is now saying they're running normally through Porter again rather than relying on shuttlebuses, though I bet there are still massive delays.

And big surprise, the MBTA lies.

"Red Line service is now running normal train service between Harvard and Alewife Stations. 6/9/2008 8:01 AM"

My wife just got back from Davis after seeing the crowds waiting for buses. Its 9 am.

I'm back at my house after seeing the clusterfuck that was the mbta. Apparently they didn't have shuttle buses yet. They were just making people jump on the 96 bus to Harvard Square.

I just got to Kendall. The train actually ran pretty smoothly once it arrived.

I left the Davis station at around 7:30, and definitely smelled something reminiscent of burning rubber when we pulled into Porter. My train was not delayed, however.

What a god damn mess. The MBTA is so incompetent it’s absurd. I got to Davis at 7:50 to take the train and waited for about 20 minutes before they said, the T was down, and to take a shuttle bus upstairs. I waited for nearly an HOUR outside, sweating my ass off and there were two, maybe three busses MAX that came. Ultimately I saw people going back downstairs to the train, all of this without ever seeing a single MBTA employee or hearing what the hell was going on from any official. Clusterfuck? I think so.

It's a good things I left the house 20 minutes earlier than usual... I only got to work 10 minutes late and feel pretty lucky.

Trains were running earlier than that. I grabbed one at 8:45.

...yeah, I suppose it doesn't mean much now. It does explain why Holland was backed up to Denmark, though.

God, that sucked so very, very much. I had just gotten to the platform when the garbled and incomprehensible anouncement was made that We Can't Has Trains. Everybody waddled in the general direction of up, where the regular route buses were fought over and a hapless bus driver tried to get everyone to walk to Mass Ave to get the 77. There weren't any shuttles at that point. I ended up squeezed onto a bus to Leachmere, then walked a mile to work in the heat (up hill both ways).

Total and utter FAIL.

Indeed. My husband and I got to the Davis station around 9:15 and had no problems whatsoever. I guess I should be glad that I was running later than intended!

I just got a (serviceable but craptastic) bike but I've been scared to commute into the city during rush hour proper. Today I had no choice but to give it a trial by fire. Thanks MBTA Fail!

I'm oddly glad to hear there were ACTUALLY no shuttles, as I thought I just wasn't seeing them due to the onset of heatstroke.

Man, I really picked a good month to take up cycling more seriously again.

The buses were CRAZY full this morning, but I honestly figured everyone was tired of paying for gas. :P

yeah. i got on at central either at or just before 830, i can't even remember anymore. between there and park it was fine, and not crowded.

damn though, thank god. figures something like this would happen my first day of work, and yet, the T was almost eerily on time and the trains i wanted just arrived into the station when i did.

maybe i slept all day and this is a dream.
