free wireless hangouts

Hey, does anyone know which restaurants/cafes in the greater Davis Square area have a free wireless network? I've been doing some work with my laptop lately, but I keep getting annoyed that I can't look up stuff on google when I need to (I have a bad case of internet dependency). I heard there's a new coffee shop in Ball Square that has it. According to NewburyOpen.net, Carberry's had free wireless for a while, but no longer. Anyone know any recent news? Thanks.

True Grounds is the name of the coffee shop in Ball Square, and they do indeed have free wireless access.

It's a really nice place too - good sandwiches and friendly staff!

I didn't know Carberry's discontinued its free wireless. :(

There are two in Union Square -- the Grand Cafe and the Sherman Cafe.

I went to the Grand Cafe once and it was really dismal... the atmosphere was non-existent and the food was pre-packaged crap. Sad. But whil I'm glad to know the Sherman Cafe has wifi... my heart belongs to True Grounds! *hug* Such an awesome place.

Yeah, the Grand is not exactly what you'd call atmospheric. I'd pick the Sherman any day.

I'll have to check out True Grounds sometime, though!

Yeah, the Sherman has that hip, urban feel, but TG is a lot warmer, funkier, and laid back. I wrote a story about both of 'em for the Somerville News:

I had some ice coffee there and it was...underwhelming. We will try again, but we wer expecting coffee at least better than Kelly's, you know?
