Dangerous Intersection

I live on the corner of Albion & Lowell streets, since the Lowell Street Bridge reopened this intersection has become more and more of a danger. This past weekend I was talking with an auxiliary officer that was doing detail for a road race at this intersection he agreed with my thought that there needs to be more stop signs at this intersection. Currently there is only one, on the one way section of Albion Street.

Has anyone else on here had luck with getting the city to add stop signs?

once when i was a little kid i lived on a street where there were terrible accidents at the end of it at this intersection with a busy road all the time. so we got crayons and construction paper, and made a little kid petition with little kid and adult signatures and our parents sent it in to city hall.

we got a traffic light installed in two months!

the moral of my story: if you can at least feign some adorable little kid crayon handwriting or have access to some kind of child that is willing to do this for you, all you really need are 8 - 10 signatures to get anything done.

Did a stop sign get knocked down? I looked on google maps street view and there are signs on both sides of Albion that intersection with Lowell St.

My friend was saying he wrote Somerville City Hall about putting in "left turn only" signs at an intersection near his house, fully expecting never to hear back. But not only did he hear back, but within two weeks they had installed the signs.

Somerville is amazingly responsive about these things. Call or write, see what happens.

I just thought I would say hello because I also live on the corner of Albion and Lowell! People do come racing up and down Lowell Street, that's for sure!

If it's just a missing stop sign on Albion, call 311 or report it on this form.

If you want the city to change the intersection to a four-way stop, you'll need to take that up with your ward alderman.
