RCN Internet slow?

Is anyone else's RCN internet slow--like 1990's 28.8 modem slow--today?

Everything's fine here, RCN, Somerville. You can call their customer support and ask after you have rebooted your modem and it did not fix the issue.

They had 90% of their net down around 2am.... so I suspect they are still recovering from whatever it was.

They're in the process of upgrading the lines in Somerville with more capacity, so I'd expect some weirdness until it all settles out. See this thread for some details:

Recently when walking I have noticed a lot of spray painted RCN's along Broadway...I assume they will be starting the maintenance work!

i wonder if that's going to effect east arlington at all? i've been having horrible latency issues in the evenings pretty constantly for a while now.

I couldn't use my internet this morning, so I suppose it must be a widespread thing. Hopefully it gets settled soon.

Yep. Definitely noticed a complete lack of service starting at about 1 am. Thank goodness for EVDO.

I had no Internet when I got up around 5:30 AM, but it was back up before I Left for work at 7AM and seemed normal speed. Elmwood St. Somerville

I lost net access at around 2 AM this morning (as I was wrapping up anyway). Connectivity has been fine since I got back on at 9AM today (Highland Ave).

Yeah I'm really starting to despise RCN. It craps out on me from time to time. Grr.

I was on-hold for 20 mins at 2am to find out that they were working on fixing the "outage". The upgrade seems to be generally improving things here, however.
At least tonight we didn't have the high latency in the evening.
