Artist talk this Sunday!
Oct. 23rd, 2008 09:21 pmThe Nave Gallery is currently displaying the show "Kitchen Stories," which will be on display through November 15th.
The American kitchen has evolved from a dark, private room at the back of the house to a bright, gleaming showplace that's often the social focus of a home. In the "Kitchen Stories" show currently at The Nave Gallery, fourteen artists explore the highlights, low spots and dark corners of this complicated space. They've investigated the economic and political aspects of kitchen activities and considered the social role that the kitchen plays in the life of a household. They've looked long and hard at their own kitchens and they've peered into other people's refrigerators. They show us stories about kitchens as they are, kitchens as they used to be, kitchens as they never were, and fantasy kitchens that may never exist.
On Sunday, October 26, at 2:00 pm, The Nave Gallery will present a gallery talk (free and open to the public) in which these artists will describe and answer questions about their work. For more information, please visit http://www.artsomerville.org/nave/2008/kitchen.phtml .
