Davis Area Free Films - Nov. 16th - 23rd

There is a good variety of films this week up on Walnut Hill. Grab a seat before the students leave for Thanksgiving break.

I've seen a lot of last minute screenings popping up on the schedule recently, so check my online calendar before settling for reruns of "Everyone Loves Raymond".

The Tufts Film Series is showing "The Dark Knight" and "Tropic Thunder" next weekend.

You can see "Das Parfuem" on Monday night and "The Summer of Aviya" on Tuesday.

Wednesday brings screenings of "Power of One" and "Persepolis".

On Thursday, you can join the filmmaker Jaffar Mahmood (a 2000 Tufts grad) for a screening of his comedy "Shades of Ray".

The weekend after that is Thanksgiving break, so that means only one more weekend of films this semester.

You don't have to be a student to see the Tufts films? Do you have to get there early to get a seat, and how early are we talking?

None of the films I list require you to be a Tufts affiliate of any kind. Any of the groups that have asked me were amazed that anyone who wasn't student or faculty would come to their events. They want people to come and are very welcoming.

The Tufts Film Series has actually contacted me and thanked me for publicizing their films off campus, so it's pretty much all are welcome. Note: this is mostly true at all the schools -- other than preview screenings, the events are open to the public.

Most of the films don't require that you get there early at all. For Film Series, you can show up last minute and get a decent seat (lots of screenings have from 15 to 50 in the audience).
