We've had sold out or nearly sold out houses for every show (except this past Thursday), and our final weekend is fast approaching. If you want to see Rimers, your final chances will be this coming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I highly recommend that you make reservations

Theatre@First takes to a grander, split-level stage to bring to life the challenging and vibrant Rimers of Eldritch. Note that this play contains adult themes (sex, and violence, and violent sex, and sexy violence!) and may not be appropriate for younger audience members.

The Rimers of Eldritch by Lanford Wilson explores the false morality and desperate hopes of a decaying Midwestern rust belt town. Lanford Wilson's play weaves a shifting fugue-like narrative, dark, touching, brooding and humorous by turns. A murder trial unfolds over a year's seasons, and as 'rime,' or hoarfrost, descends over the land, this community reveals its demons and its heart.

I went last night - and though I can't claim to be a expert connoisseur of theatre, the production was extremely well done. The staging was quite impressive, atmosphere subtle but critical to the setting, and the acting very engaging. Quite a few startlingly-well done performances especially that of Chris Lockheardt.

On a personal note, I continue to be thrilled by how many people I continue to discover taking part in the cast and crew of Theatre@First and Post-Meridian Radio Productions (PMRP) are alumni of my own alma mater, UMass Amherst.

Camberville and Davis Square especially must be where folks enamored by the Five College Region (NoHo/Ahmerst) migrate post-graduation to find jobs but still have the nightlife and personality of the towns they went to college in.
