I have a too-large-for-me wool coat I'd like to give away. Are there any drives taking place in town, or drop-off locations?

You can drop off coats at any Anton's Cleaners. There's once next to Starbucks at the intersection of Elm St. and Somerville Ave. outside of Porter.

I found this: Drop off your old coats at Anton’s for kids this winter

but I don't know if they take non-kids' coats (or if your coat would fit a "kid")

Edit: Here's a more direct link, and they say they do take adult coats.

You can go to the Somerville Homeless Coalition office (1 Davis Square - same building as CVS), or there's an adult shelter in the basement of the College Ave Methodist Church (there's a side door on Chapel Street).

To my surprise, they don't list coats or any other clothing on their list of needs for suggested donation. They may still want the coat, but you may want to call or e-mail them first before making a special trip.

The door to the Davis Square office is on Dover Street next to the Boston Sports Club entrance. You have to take an elevator down one floor to the basement. For some reason, the stairway is locked.

I second the Somerville Homeless Coalition (http://somervillehomelesscoalition.org/index.html), I was there on Wednesday and they had a box out for donated winter coats. Office hours M-F 9-5p.

It's not in Somerville, but I've regularly gone to the Women's Lunch Place on Newbury Street. I think it's in the church on the corner of Berkeley?

hi, Goodwill is always a good idea. also the Cambridge Portuguese Credit Union started a drive for the Homeless Coalition (where I work) and we have boxes here in the basement of One Davis Square. we offer them to folks in our two shelters and in our housing programs -- over 160 children and adults, both men and women total -- and they are grateful for the help. i'm at 617-623-6111 if you have any questions. thanks, Mark
