Somerville Adult Evening School Winter 2009 Classes start the week of February 3, but word has yet to spread far about this newly expanded program, so please tell your friends.
Whether you long to learn to ice a cake like a pro, play an African drum, speak Portuguese, deliver CPR, design a web page, do your own home improvements, or simply cut your home energy costs, SAES has an affordable course for you. Weekly classes are held at Somerville High School and cover everything from mastering pastry dough to learning to create architectural plans with AutoCAD.
Classes are taught by experienced local instructors and professionals and at roughly $15 per 3-hour class they are a bargain. Registration is open through the start of classes on February 3.
Anyone interested in suggesting or teaching a future course is invited to submit ideas.
Winter 2009 courses include: Cake Decorating, Drawing, African Drumming, Celtic Art, Chorus, Watercolor Painting, Culinary Arts: Playing With Dough, Furniture Making, Intro to Digital Photography, Digital Photography for Seniors, English as a Second Language I & II, Beginning Portuguese, Spanish for Beginners, Home Improvement, How to Cut Home Energy Costs, Money Management in a Down Economy, CPR & First Aid, OSHA 10-hour Safety Card, Intro to AutoCAD, AutoCAD Course 2, Graphics Arts, Intro to Computers, Basic Web Design, Connect with E-Mail, and Driver’s Education, as well as high school advance credit courses in U.S. History, Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, English.
All classes meet weekly for 10 weeks beginning the week of February 3 either on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at Somerville High School, 81 Highland Ave. Course fees: $100-$150 for 10-week classes; additional material fees may apply. Payment due at registration.
