Fairly soon we are going to have to start planning the next DS Yard sale. I was very happy that last year we raised so much money. I'm fine with having the SHC be our beneficiary again unless there is a strong preference to support another local charity or split the proceeds to more than 1 charity. If you would like to be involved with the planning of this event, please join [livejournal.com profile] davis_sale.

Also, nobody has yet stepped forward to take over the DS meetups. I'm not sure whether that is an indication that they ran their course and we should let it go or if nobody wants the responsibility for it. One option that we can do is to have the meetups be more informal (not expecting any freebies or space saved). If we start them at 8pm instead of 7pm, I can be there in time to set things up. Let me know if there is interest in having this thing continue.

The freebies were fun to have, but I never considered them essential, as I was always quite willing to pay for food.

You know, given that subject line, I was imagining someone in a little apron and a leather collar, taking orders to scrub the floor "'til it shines, slave!" LOL

Super excited for another yard sale... I have tons and tons to get rid of. Unfortunately, I don't have any spare time right now to help plan anything, but once my schedule gets a bit easier I might be able to help some with the yard sale... that just won't be until May.

That is really awesome, but I think meeting up at a bar at a designated time would be fine too. I've only been to one meet-up and don't know many people yet, so I'm not really comfortable organizing, but I'd definitely come to a casual one and help out if you need it.

i think given that most of us end up showing up "fashionably late," i totally vote for an 8pm start. though i understand given how much you're doing now that you might be too busy to organize these, but you've been doing a great job :)

I was actually thinking the other day about posting and seeing if anything was going on with the meetups. I really enjoyed the one I went to, and was hoping for more, though I am also new to the area so figured I wouldn't be much good for running this thing.

So in summary, 8 works for me.

Later evenings ie 8 tend to work better for me too - and I never thought the freebies were as essential either (plus places didn't seem big on vegetarian freebies). Informal seems fine - and maybe someone will attend one, miss the freebies, and step up to work on getting 'em again.
