We found the cat pictured above at 9 PM on 2/17 on Washburn Avenue. He (or she? we can't tell) has faint orange stripes and is very lovable. It followed us into the house and didn't want to go back outside in the cold! The cat doesn't appear to have been out long and probably misses his/her family.

For whatever it's worth, I live up the street and I haven't had the pleasure of meeting that little dude before. I have come to recognize a couple of cats who prowl the neighborhood (including the siamese - have you seen that one?)

If he/she's an indoor kitty, I hope you reach the kitty's human. Calls to animal control, etc, of course.

Wow, if my cat wasn't on my lap right now I'd swear it was mine!

My girlfriend suggests that you put pictures up around the area to see if the owner notices as they may not be a livejournal reader.

if you don't have any luck with posting photos you may want to take the kitty to a vet to see if it's microchipped.

that is actually a seriously laid back cat for having been lost and being in a strange home.

As someone with a preternaturally laid back feline, i feel like i should point out that, though rare, they do exist! :P My cat has been known to purr and snuggle *the vet*...

if his owner doesn't turn up, we might be interested in adopting him... let me know.

I found a similar-looking cat (young orange male) on the corner of Medford and Walnut a couple of weeks ago. He was out in the cold and ran inside my daycare provider's house! However, this cat had a collar and a tag, and I was able to return it to the owners. Unfortunately, I got the feeling that the owners didn't care if the cat was wandering around in the snow :(

I know that Cambridge Animal Control has a little handheld microchip reader and will come to your house to scan the cat for a microchip. Somerville Animal Control may do the same.

If you're interested in adopting a cat (and if this one doesn't work out!) please consider adopting from Pets In Need, a local Somerville organization... we have lots of great, friendly kitties that need homes!

You can see the cats available for adoption at www.petsinneed.978.org

Please call Somerville Animal Control so that we can get some details about this kitty and possibly come by and check for a microchip. So far there are no lost reports matching this cat's description but it woudl be good to know gender & age in case someone calls looking for him/her.

Thank you!

I'll leave a note on my neighbor's door, and ask her if it's her cat, "Monkey," who is an outdoor cat who usually wears a collar. He is not she and according to her has a tendency to go into other people's houses.
