Get your Hands Off My Bag!
Sep. 10th, 2004 03:01 pmHey All,
Have you seen people around the square with cool bags imprinted with the fourth amendment (protection from searches and seizures)?

My roommate and I made them! We're really psyched about this project and wanted to spread the word.
We (like you, probably) got incredibly annoyed at the MBTA's bag search policy. Even when the Globe reported that they were no longer planning to search bags, a careful reading of the article would show that the MBTA itself says the policy is still in effect.
Our security screening policy remains in place,” said Mr. Tesaturo [Press Secretary for the MBTA], “If you look carefully at the globe article, nowhere in it does it say that the MBTA has officially ended the policy.”
We decided to do something to help everyone remember that these searches are in violation of your constitutional rights. So we made these handsome bags.
If you want one, you can buy it at Comicazi on Highland Ave., or, if you want it mailed to you, get it off our website, www.handsoffmybag.com.
The ACLU has a good information page up on their website, at http://www.aclu-mass.org/mbta/bag_searches.asp.
