I was walking down North St. in Somerville when this cat walked up to me and started meowing and rubbing against my leg. She seemed rather friendly and well-groomed for a stray, so I think she might be a lost pet. She's a white, black, and tan calico with a stumpy tail. She followed me for a bit; last I saw she was sitting on the porch of 66 North St. I left a message with animal control.

Cute! Though I will say there's a HUGE amount of indoor/outdoor cats around North Street, I know of at least 6 off the top of my head in the Conwell Ave area, though I don't recognize this one.

i think this might be the lost cat from arlington -- there's a poster for a cat named frankenstein that i saw all along mass ave in arlington (east arlington) that has a stumpy tail.

If it's the cat I think it is, she's an indoor/outdoor cat, who happens to be very friendly. I took her in once thinking she was an escaped kitty, called the number on her tag and her owner said she was fine to wander about.

I'm guessing she was tagless, since I don't see a collar in the photo. I wish I still had the #, but it was a few months ago that this happened.

edited to add that this all occured on Conwell ave near the North St end.

The number wasn't a MA number, so hopefully whoever cat it is still around.

I've heard several cats fighting in the evenings around the area. I think it's ridiculous that people would have outdoor cats around here, but I think that a lot of people remember when it was much more residential and you didn't have people on cel phones driving 45mph down the street... =/

Yeah and Conwell gives the illusion of small side street, being that it is just that. I'm sure his generation believes cats ought to be allowed out and about. I've discussed it with him a few times, he wants to know why our cats never come outside and I try to explain FIV and Leukemia and what not and he just doesn't get it I'm not sure if its a translation problem or a comprehension problem.. I get the shrug that his cats doing just fine ha.

I know for a fact my senior cat and kitten wouldn't last out there. Crazy and kind of brainless kitten would be run over or destroyed by a cat in the neighborhood almost instantly and my senior cat is terrified of everything.. She'd be up a tree or under a porch till doomsday ha.

A lot of people keep their out of state cell phone numbers, especially if they've recently graduated from college.

I am well aware of that. However, sometimes when people move, they aren't always able to take their pets and just leave them to fend for themselves.
