Now that H-mart has opened near my office in Burlington, I've been wandering the aisles and wondering how I can create some tasty Korean food for myself. Does anyone know of a local cooking class that covers Korean food?

The best place I've found for cooking classes is the Cambridge Center for Adult Education (http://www.ccae.org/catalog/courses.php?id=10&time=1) in Harvard Square. They don't have any Korean classes at the moment, but they have had in the past.

My husband's Korean; until they have a class, this is a pretty good Korean cookbook (http://www.amazon.com/Korean-Table-Barbecue-Easy-Prepare/dp/0804839905/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1256570558&sr=1-11#noop).

yup, CCAE. Walter Rhee comes to town twice a year to teach Japanese, Korean, and Chinese cooking. He's pretty cool. Unfortunately, I think he was just here last month.

I think there is another Korean cuisine instructor, but I've never taken classes with him.

I know how to make champong and, theoretically, jjajangmyun. Should we do a cooking night?

(random - that reminds me, my cousin wants me to try making fish en croute?!)

I suggest moving to Korea. It is great here.

But if you don't want to do that...

Also, there is a place in Harvard Square called the New England School of English (NESE) where you can sign up to meet a Korean language partner, who, I am certain, would be thrilled to teach you how to cook Korean food.

Walter Rhee is awesome. I'd wait for him.

Walter lives in Hawaii now, but comes out once or twice a year just to teach Asian cooking at CCAE. The only thing is, it's rare for him to do all Korean cooking unless it's his Bulgogi class (which don't get me wrong, is awesome, but there's a lot more to Korean cuisine than bulgogi).

the one I took was Chinese Korean cooking so it was stuff like jjajangmyun and totally counts as Korean cooking.

Well, boo. I didn't realize he didn't do the overview class anymore. They should get someone else to do that, then.
