I came upon the website for the Somerville Scout, a magazine I usually get in the mail but throw away, and found their calendar of Somerville events really useful. I learned things I never knew, like the fact that Highland Kitchen has a spelling bee on Tuesdays or that you can take hula dancing classes locally. It struck me as a nice link to have if you find yourself bored one day and are looking for something different to do. It also has a good bit of local gov't meetings listed, and you can have an event listed by emailing calendar@somervillescout.com The calendar is at: http://www.somervillescout.com/calendar.html

I could add that to the list of links on the [livejournal.com profile] davis_square page, but I'd have to remove one that we already have (the limit is 10).

Somerville Scout's calendar is pretty cool! They seem to track a lot of businesses & events I like. Thanks, I didn't realize they posted it online.

(I actually tend to read the whole Somerville Scout when it comes in the mail. I appear to be their precise target demographic. :)

Oh, cool! When I've read the Scout in the bathroom, I've wondered if their calendar was online but I always forget to check. Thanks for the reminder. :)

I read it too. They write really fine articles about local organizations and businesses.

Wah, I got a couple issues of the Scout at my old apt. and then I moved and now I don't get it anymore! Anyone know where I can pick it up? (Yes, I'm aware that it's free. I still assumed there would be a "subscribe" button on their webpage, but, silly me.)

I thought they sent it to every residential address in the city -- maybe not?

I bet if you emailed them and suggested this, they might implement it. It makes sense.

That's a good point. I just emailed scout@somervillescout.com to ask if they could add me. :-}

I'm not sure how long ago my specific apartment was last occupied, before I moved there in October, so maybe it just fell off the roster. (Or maybe there just hasn't been an issue published since last September, I dunno.)

Delivery Problems

If you live in Somerville with a Somerville Mailing address, you should receive your issue every quarter. If you are not receiving it, it is your mail carrier. Please call the Somerville Post Office at 617-666-2332, ask for the manager and tell them that your carrier is not delivering your Scout.
